If you like hiking or kayaking, you've come to the right island, but you can also take it easy on any number of nearby beaches. Learn about Hawaiian history at the Mauna 'Ala royal mausoleum and the Iolani Palace, or Hawaiian culture at a luau or the Polynesian Cultural Center. Oahu is the turn-around port for Pride of America, so travelers should consider a pre- or post-cruise stay to see the sights.

On average, roundtrip interisland flights will cost about $150, depending on the islands. Flight times are typically so short that flight attendants barely have time to hand out beverages, so don’t worry too much about keeping yourself entertained. For example, flight time between Honolulu, Oahu and Kahului, Maui (probably the most popular route with tourists) is capped at 30 minutes on average.

That could include books or an e-reader, a packable board game, a knitting project or a journal. UnCruise passengers should pack hiking boots, moisture-wicking athletic clothing, plenty of swimsuits and waterproof bags to protect their gear. The second cruise port on the island of Hawaii, Kona is one of the best ports for visiting a coffee plantation and sampling local Hawaiian coffee. For travelers more interested in ancient Polynesian history, the Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, the site of an old city of refuge, is a fascinating place to visit.

Vacationers are awarded lengthy time slots at each port during their Hawaii inter island cruise. A popular seven to ten day interislands cruise in Hawaii is one that often leaves from Honolulu in the early evening hours. The cruise sets sail and arrives on Kauai early the next morning, spending the night. Visitors can choose their preferred port of call, where the ship will stop for two days, or take a trip with equal timed stops exploring each port for a day or so. There are several Hawaii travel packages to choose from with varied schedules. Staying with a strictly Hawaiian agenda lends an amazing experience throughout one of the most beautiful island chains in the world.
Cruising primarily in the polar regions and Pacific, she allows her guests to experience luxury, gastronomy, wellness, entertainment and active programming in remote destinations. Unfortunately, helicopter tours don't allow you to bring your suitcase and simply get dropped off to start a new island life — you'll have to return with the pilot to the island you departed from. If you want to get dropped into a really remote Hawaiian area, the only way to do so is by helicopter.

We've always wanted to see Hawaii but didn't want resorts or large cruise ships. Celebrity Cruises offers 10-night and 11-night departures out of Honolulu that visit Lahaina, Maui, Hilo and Kailua-Kona on the Big Island. Then the Celebrity Solstice heads east for Vancouver, British Columbia. The Celebrity Century and the Celebrity Millennium also visit the Hawaiian Islands but the Solstice is the only ship that leaves from Honolulu.
The itineraries are one-way (Vancouver to Honolulu or vice versa) with passports required. UnCruise visits four islands — Maui and Lanai plus Molokai and Hawaii — and focuses on not only their striking landscapes and underwater beauty but also the cultural traditions, cuisine and music of the Hawaiian people. On Molokai, where there's not a single traffic light and the lifestyle is slow-paced, passengers get a chance to "talk story" with locals and enjoy a pa'ina (feast) and evening jam session.
We had wanted to see Hawaii, but are not overly enthusiastic about crowds and commercialism. We wanted to see multiple islands, but did not know which ones to pick. This cruise was perfect, since they took us to 4 different islands and arranged lots of great activities.
We always recommend doing the math to make sure you are getting a decent value for your points. But if you are flying Southwest (fixed-value points), or when prices cross that $100 threshold, using miles become a deal worth considering. From HNL, it should only take about 30 to 45 minutes of flight time to get to the other major Hawaiian island on a nonstop flight.
It was especially great because everything (including the alcohol) was included in one price. Unless you are invited by the owners, a helicopter tour is the only way you'll land on the pristine so-called Forbidden Island of Niihau. This lightly inhabited island is 70-square miles in size and can (sometimes) be seen from Kauai's Waimea Canyon.
The next stop is Oahu, followed by Kauai, where excursions range from an ATV tour of the island to snorkeling along the South Shore. On Maui, highlights include Haleakala National Park, whale watching, and exclusive access to the private Lona Ridge Estate for a lesson in making a traditional lei. The ship then sails on to Ensenada, Mexico, where passengers can indulge in wine tastings, e-bike tours, and ATV adventures in the Guadalupe Valley. Unsurprisingly, there are limited choices when it comes to airlines that offer interisland flights in Hawaii. The favorite among locals has historically been Hawaiian Airlines, as it offers the largest range of available flight times and high levels of service (plus, they’ve been around since 1929). Hawaiian Island has flights to all six major islands, with airports in Lihue, Honolulu, Hoolehua, Kapalua, Kahului, Lanai City, Kona, and Hilo.
